It’s 9:33 a.m. at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport on a rainy Tuesday. I’m penning this blog as flight attendants prepare our plane for flight, my first since I visited Palmetto Protection Films in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last December. I’m headed to Glass Expo Northeast (GENE) ´22 in Uniondale, N.Y., for coverage geared towards readers of USGlass magazine, WINDOW FILM magazine’s sister publication.

Here are three facets of GENE 2022 I look forward to experiencing.

It was a smooth flight from Atlanta to New York.

1. Networking: My last trade show experience took place at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nev. I shook hands between formal interviews and filming, exchanging business cards with folks in various industry positions. These sideline conversations gave me impactful insight into our industry’s inner workings. After writing several pieces for USGlass magazine and attending GlassBuild in Atlanta last year, I look to expand on my glass and glazing knowledge at GENE ‘22.

2. Intertwined Industries: Many of the world’s industries are connected, and Key Media and Research’s (KMR) areas of coverage are proof. I frequently cover Window Film Depot on the window film side. The company also has several glass and glazing solutions, and I’m looking forward to scanning their offerings. Check out my latest Dear Reader column, where I touch on this connectedness further.

3. Location, Location, Location: The states associated with major industry events are part of the draw. This will be my first time in New York, and I can’t wait to take in the sights and cross it off my travel bucket list.

I can’t wait to cover GENE ‘22, a taste of what’s to come for our industry at this year’ International Window Film Conference and Tint Off™ (WFCT) in San Antonio. Click here to subscribe to the USGNNN newsletter, where all of my show content will appear in the coming days.

One last thing—any pizza restaurant recommendations?

King umbertos pizza is amazing, not too far from Uniondale, 15 minutes further is new park pizza, and Lavilla pizza, hands down the best pizza around
