Teeth tell us a lot about someone’s story: their temperament, age and health status. But not everyone has an equal shot at taking care of their teeth. There are a lot of barriers at play when it comes to accessing good oral health care.

At Delta Dental of Michigan, we believe in breaking down those barriers so we can stand by our mission of improving oral health through benefit plans, advocacy and community support. As manager of talent strategics, I love sharing this message with potential candidates.

Smiles display confidence, which can affect many aspects of an adult’s life including successful relationships and career-earning potential. According to a national survey from Delta Dental Plans Association, Americans relate success with smiling often and more than half of adults (53 percent) say their smile has a bearing on their overall success.

In addition, The Adult’s Oral Health & Well-Being Survey indicates that good oral health makes most Americans feel confident, surpassing other top reasons like clear skin and being fit.

At Delta Dental of Michigan, it’s no surprise that we’ve seen the difference a smile can make.

Employed adults in the United States lose more than 164 million hours of work each year because of oral health problems or dental visits, further showing the critical need for regular preventive dental appointments. And sometimes those adults end up seeking care in emergency rooms, leading to huge avoidable costs.

Dental care is personal, so it’s important that members feel comfortable with the dentist they choose, and that the dentist has a schedule and location that are convenient for them.

Delta Dental features the largest network of dentists in the country and in Michigan, making a healthy smile and healthier body just around the corner.
