Disney Plus postponed the  premiere  event of its upcoming series,  The Book of Boba Fett . The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 4 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The postponement is mainly due to the recent Covid outburst.  Variety  has confirmed the news.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we will be postponing the ‘Boba Fett’ fan event,” the studio said in a statement Wednesday morning. “It will be relocated to the 8th of February in celebration of the finale.”

The red carpet event will now celebrate The Book Of Boba Fett’s finale on February 8 https://t.co/YwpIB7OMEu

Expected guests of the event include Jon Favreau  (Chef, Iron Man),  Dave Filoni  (Star Wars: The Clone Wars),  Robert Rodriguez  (Spy Kids),  Kathleen Kennedy  (Star Wars: The Force Awakens),  and Ming-Na Wen  (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).  More attendees are to be announced at a future date.

The series is a spinoff of  The Mandalorian.  The show will pick up after the post-credits scene after the sophomore season of  The Mandalorian . In  The Book of Boba Fett , bounty hunter Boba Fett, played by Temuera Morrison ( Moana ), must lead a community once he returns to the territory of Tatooine, after the reign of Jabba the Hutt. The trailer of the series is available.

The Omicron variant has led to cancellations of multiple major events. Earlier this week, the Palm Springs International Film Festival canceled its in-person awards gala, and BAFTA Los Angeles paused its annual tea party. Many Broadway shows are also suffering from this outbreak.  Hamilton ,  MJ The Musical ,  Mrs. Doubtfire: The Musical,  and  Tina: The Tina Turner Musical  have halted their shows until further notice. However, one of the most significant movie events, the Critics Choice Awards, decided to move forward with the ceremony.

The Book of Boba Fett  will be available to stream on  December 29  through Disney Plus.
